Hello! My name is Catherine Castoro. Catie Cat is the pen name for my new children’s book brand. I am an author, illustrator/painter, and I have a small publishing company called WunderWay Publishing through which I publish my children’s books and music from my indie label, Wunder Audio Records. I live with my husband, who’s a musician, in Austin, Texas. My two grown children, Michael and Sadie, have given me an enormous amount of material to work with for my Catie Cat books.
In adult fiction, I recently finished a novel called Eddie Hest vs. Suburbia, due to be released fall 2024. The gist: Outcast mom in therapy saves suburbia. If you’d like to become a Advanced Reader and get a FREE copy, please email me at info@catherinecastoro.com
Here’s what the book’s about: Eddie and her 9-year-old daughter are outcasts in their new suburban town. She blames her purple hair and tattoos; she’s being judged because she’s different. When she asks the wrong person the wrong question, she becomes a target, and discovers that Shelia, the PTA President is blackmailing nearly everyone. It’s up to Eddie to battle the status quo and save suburbia.
It takes someone different to make a change.
In adult non-fiction, I’ve published a short story called THE FERRY TO DUBLIN in the January 2018 edition of The Ocotillo Review, a true story about an incident that happened when my daughter was six.
I paint in oils, and have had several regional showing and won a handful of awards for art and design. My style varies. If you check out the art section, you may see bits of Flutter. I‘ve worked professionally as a designer and illustrator for many years.
I have a BS Advertising and a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas, including experience as a Research Assistant in the Children’s Research Lab while attending the University. I have a Certificate of Completion in Advanced Creative Writing from the Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford, England. Professional organizations include: Jericho Writers (Oxford, England) and The Writers’ League of Texas (Austin, Texas).
I love to hike, practice yoga, and garden.

THE FERRY TO DUBLIN
At sea, the night is pitch black. Ten to fifteen foot waves bombard the ferry, making it difficult to stand. My six-year-old daughter is missing.
